These words of Thomas Paine's in the winter of 1776 are as appropriate today as they were when Washington's army,
battered by serious defeat, had wavered between dedication and desertion. Thankfully, for the cause of freedom,
dedication won out.
War is not new. Blood has been shed throughout recorded history for any and every reason under the sun. Man's
inhumanity to man is not new. It has become a recognized human condition. Hunger is certainly not new. Humans have
suffered the degradations of poverty for all millennia. Is the destruction of our planet and the depletion of its resources
new? Scientific and archaeological evidence shows that Mother Earth may have lashed back at such abuses in the past,
so it's probably not new. Are we at the whims of time, cyclical design, willful co-reaction or karmic cause and effect? As
we wonder and share this space in an expanding universe, what makes this time any different than any other?
Is it the approach of the end of the Mayan calendar, December 21, 2012? Is it fear that if we don't change today, we may
never again have the chance on some tomorrow? Are we so tired of this status quo that we seek an outside Messiah? Or
is it just that we know that it's time, now, to clean up our acts, to truly know ourselves, and to remember that we are a
part of the Divine, you and me?
Indeed it may be all of those things or none of those things. I submit that the time is different now because we are
different now: we are a rapidly evolving species, albeit, some more rapidly than others -- but we are ALL on our way to
fulfilling the divine plan, a course of enlightenment, a true awakening. The human species is opening its heart to
compassionate action and coming to realize the holographic oneness of this vast creation. We are coming to realize that
we really are our brother's keeper -- because we ARE our brother, our sister, mother and father. At this time in our
planet's herstory, we are being surrounded by love and light, compassion and wisdom, from the very essence and
emanation of God.
Anyone interested in the spiritual healing arts, especially Reiki, which means God-directed (universal) life force energy,
has a deep abiding interest in raising the vibrations, the energies, of not only themselves and those around them, but of
this magnificent living planet, wherein we are nurtured. Reiki healers everywhere are making global peace and healing
a priority as we meditate and send the healing rays of Reiki to areas of conflict and need. We are no summer soldiers or
sunshine patriots in this regard.
The world has great need of your love and compassion and we welcome your good intentions, your prayers and your
participation in transforming the suffering on and of this earth. We ask for your dedication for the long haul, for the
duration of this Transition. By our working together, these are times that heal men's souls.
